Perfectly positioned for a break in the journey, Marulan offers more than a place to refuel. Expect friendly faces, open landscapes and a genuine taste of country life.
Marulan has been a stopping point along the road for a long time. Hamilton Hume and James Meehan passed through the area in 1818, and by the mid-1820s a small settlement known as Mooroowoolen had taken shape near Bungonia Road and the Great South Road.
A new town was surveyed by Thomas Mitchell in 1834 and officially gazetted as Marulan in 1835, laying the foundations for the village you see today.
